EUSOME Presented at Regional Meeting with EUROCONTROL, Cyprus, 21-22 January 2025

On 21–22 January 2025, the EUSOME project was presented during a high-level regional meeting held at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) in Larnaca, Cyprus. The meeting was attended by representatives from EUROCONTROL, as well as delegates from national authorities — including civil aviation — of Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Malta, and Jordan.

EUROCONTROL is the European intergovernmental organization that supports safe and efficient air traffic management across the continent. It plays a key role in shaping the future of aviation through cooperation, innovation, and harmonized regulation across Europe and its neighboring regions.

During the meeting, Dr. Christian Vitale, from the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus, presented the EUSOME project. His presentation focused on innovation in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), showcasing EUSOME’s contribution to cutting-edge technologies. He also discussed how the project can support national efforts to prepare U-space Masterplans, aimed at enabling the safe integration of unmanned aircraft into low-altitude airspace.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for strengthening regional cooperation and underlined the role of research and innovation projects like EUSOME in supporting the future of air mobility in Europe and beyond. It was an important opportunity to position EUSOME within the broader European and regional dialogue on advanced air mobility and to showcase the project’s alignment with the long-term vision of U-space and integrated airspace management.
